Sulfurization Reaction and Baking Process

The sulfurization reaction, a crucial process in rubber product manufacturing, involves heating to induce chemical cross-linking of rubber polymer chains. This forms a stable network structure that enhances the physical and chemical properties of rubber products, such as tensile strength, wear resistance, tear resistance, and resistance to aging, oil, and chemicals, enabling rubber products to perform well in harsh environments.

I.Sulfurization Reaction and Baking Process

 

1.Pretreatment:Place rubber products in a preheating oven to reach a temperature that facilitates subsequent cross-linking. The temperature and time vary with the product type, usually between 100℃-150℃ for 1-2 hours.

2.Sulfurization: Transfer the preheated rubber products to a sulfurization oven for cross-linking. The temperature and time are product-specific, typically within 150℃-200℃ for 2-4 hours.

3.Cooling: After sulfurization, remove the products from the oven and cool them naturally or with air cooling to room temperature, avoiding external forces that might affect performance.

 

II.Applications of Sulfurization Reaction

 

1.Rubber Products: Sulfurization creates a 3D network in rubber, boosting mechanical properties and resistance to heat and oil. Common sulfurized rubber products include tires, hoses, belts, and seals.

2.Metal Sulfide Preparation: In materials science, sulfurization produces metal sulfide nanomaterials like copper sulfide and zinc sulfide, which have unique optical, electrical, and magnetic properties for use in catalysts, sensors, and optoelectronic materials.

3.Electronic Components: In the electronics industry, sulfurization creates semiconductor materials such as cadmium sulfide and lead sulfide, used in solar cells and photoelectric devices.

4.Other Fields: Sulfurization is also used for anti-corrosion, waterproofing, and rust prevention, such as forming protective sulfurized films on metal surfaces.

5.Dedicated Secondary Sulfurization Ovens: Tailored to meet the secondary sulfurization needs of rubber products, providing stable temperatures and good ventilation to promptly expel gases, preventing product and equipment damage.
